Angiology, also known as vascular medicine, is a medical speciality concerned with
pathologies of the circulatory system, i.e. the arteries, veins, blood microcirculation
and lymphatic system. Phlebology is one of the branches of angiology that is
particularly interested in the venous system, wich are the blood vessels that carry
"used" blood from the organs and muscles back to the heart and lungs for reoxygenation.
Arterial and venous pathologies are generally quite distinct and require very different
treatment.
Vascular echo-Doppler examinations use ultrasound and enable doctors to explore various
vessels in the body quickly, easily and non-invasively. Dr Céline Dray carries out
echo-doppler examinations of the carotid arteries (or supra aortic trunk), abdominal
aorta, arteries of the lower limbs and renal arteries. She also explores the veins using
venous Doppler ultrasound, looking for venous thrombosis (phlebitis), venous
insufficiency (varicose veins, oedema) or the causes of oedema or skin lesions on the
lower limbs (eczema, psoriasis, ulcers, etc.).
Sclerotherapy, which can be carried out in the practice, can improve the functional and
aesthetic discomfort of varicose and spider veins.
If you've had recent analyses, don't forget to bring them with you. You can also prepare for the appointment by recording your food intake over 24 hours (optional).
